What you should know about
Dental Veneers in Las Cruces, NM.

A dental veneer is a thin layer of porcelain or composite material that is bonded to the outside of the tooth. Similar to a contact for an eye, a veneer fits snugly over the tooth and is nearly impossible to notice. They hide stains, chips and imperfections in appearance and alignment and are typically recommended for front teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. Veneers are used to improve aesthetics or help correct tooth damage, especially when patients do not respond well to other restorative treatments.

Types of Veneers

At Warren & Law Dental, we have various dental veneers available and each offers a different cosmetic purpose. In a consultation with you, we will go over each veneer and help you determine the best fit for your needs.

Porcelain veneers — Porcelain is the most popular veneer choice among our patients because of it’s natural look and durability. Used on misshapen, gapping or discolored teeth, porcelain veneers are fabricated in a laboratory and placed a few weeks later at a second appointment. The strong porcelain material is applied with minimal removal of tooth structure and little sensitivity.

Composite veneers — Composite veneers offer a quicker and cheaper cosmetic solution than porcelain veneers. In this procedure, composite resin is placed on the outside of the tooth using a technique called bonding and is done immediately, with no waiting, temporaries or second appointments. However, because composite resin does not last as long as porcelain, it will likely need to be replaced sooner.

Lumineers® —  Lumineers are a special kind of porcelain veneer that offer a painless way to a permanently whiter and perfectly-aligned smile. These "smile shapers" are as thin as contact lenses and can be applied to your teeth without any grinding or shaving beforehand. They create a beautiful and natural-looking smile. Lumineers can even be placed over existing crowns or bridgework without having to replace them.

CPAP - Oral appliance therapy

Componeers® —  Componeers are composite, prefabricated enamel shells that come in various sizes and are perfect for single-tooth reconstruction as well as more complex reconstruction. Componeers can be customized to the individual requirements of each tooth, yet can be placed efficiently in just a single visit to our office. They are a high-quality solution to improving esthetics that also conserves a high level of original tooth substance. This new class of veneers makes getting a new smile quick and easy.

How much do Dental Veneers in Las Cruces, NM cost?
The cost of dental veneers varies according to the complexity of the case, material chosen, and expertise of the dentist performing the procedure. Insurance policies generally consider dental veneers a cosmetic procedure and therefore may not pay for treatment. If this is the case with your insurance or if you don’t have insurance, talk to our office about payment options to make your care more affordable.

The treatment process for each veneer is a little different depending on the material chosen, however treatment will always begin with a smile analysis. Once your smile is assessed and the proper veneer material picked, the surface of the tooth will be buffed and shaped to allow for the veneer to fit properly over the tooth. Once the tooth is prepared, impressions will be taken.

Porcelain veneers require multiple appointments. In the first appointment, the tooth is prepared and impressions taken. Additional, a temporary may be placed to protect the tooth while the permanent veneer is fabricated. Once the veneer is made, you will return for a second appointment to have the veneer placed. Composite veneers are a simpler and faster procedure because the resin material can be bonded to the tooth in the same visit following impressions.

After the veneer is bonded into place in either procedure, the tooth will then be cleaned and polished to remove any excess bonding material. This completes the veneer process and leaves you with a beautiful, stunning new smile.

Veneers should be cared for just like your other teeth — with daily brushing and flossing — and when properly maintained they can last anywhere from 5 to 20 years. Porcelain veneers are more durable than composite veneers and typically last up to 20 years. Composite veneerers last 5 years on average.
